5 Reasons You’ll Love The LEGO Movie

Love LEGO? Here’s 5 Reasons You’ll Love The LEGO Movie!

The-Lego-Movie-Character-Guide-570x294

This full length movie tells the story of Emmet (Chris Platt), a regular mini figure, who is mistaken for someone else and gets in a heap of trouble with President Business (Will Ferrell) and his henchman Bad Cop/Good Cop (Liam Neeson). It looks like things are going to get very bad for him, when he is rescued by WyldStyle – also called Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), who thinks he’s the “Most Extraordinary Person”  — a master building who will save the universe. She brings him back to her crew, headed up by old mystic Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman) and Batman (Will Arnett). They have to face off against the evil President Business, who wants to destroy the universe by gluing it together. Will the friends succeed?

1. LEGOS– kids are wild about LEGO (including my own). Unlike other LEGO TV shows and movies we’ve seen, this really is about LEGO and the effects are great. You really feel like you are looking at LEGOS..and being a builder (and not always following directions) are encouraged. This is the ocean below — the LEGO-Like effects were amazing.

2. There are several cool worlds that the friends spend time in…

The Wild West:

It’s like every cowboy movie ever all smashed together. In the rowdy Wild West, there are always thrilling horseback chases, exciting train robberies, and old-time piano music playing while sheriffs and outlaws have showdowns outside the local saloon. It’s not the safest place, but it’s a great spot to hide out if you don’t want to be found.

Bricksburg:

A big city built entirely out of LEGO bricks, and the hometown of Emmet. Under the all-controlling leadership of President Business, everything in Bricksburg is done exactly by the instructions.

Cloud Cuckoo Land:

A land up in the clouds where there are no rules, no limits, and no bedtimes. Reached by traveling up a rainbow and headed up by the super sweet Princess Unikitty (who has a slight edge to her), Cuckoo Land is built from every kind of piece using every type of LEGO imagination. Plus it’s also the secret meeting place of the Master Builders.

3. Morgan Freeman!!

4. Will Arnett as Batman

Will plays Batman, who isn’t the best boyfriend to Lucy. His delivery and super confidence is hysterical.

5. Almost every LEGO Mini Figure Shows up!

Superman, The Green Ninja from Ninjago, Star Wars, pirates, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern, Gandalf the Wizard, Shaquille O’Neal, Shakespeare, President Lincoln.. It’s worked in very well and kids who own more than one set will definitely be impressed with seeing all the characters.

Scary Parts?

Here at The Mama Maven Blog, we like to inform parents about scary parts. The LEGO Movie wasn’t that bad, but warn your kids that things will seem dire for Emmet in the beginning and at the end. Also, ships, buildings, and other LEGO creations get destroyed. The ideal age is probably 4 or 5 (depending on  your child) and up to around 11 or 12.

Thank you to GoFobo.com for providing complimentary passes to this movie. I was not compensated.
