Music is a big part of babies’ cognitive development and as kids get older they sometimes move away from music and onto other things like sports or technology. Not everyone is musical but it’s so important to try and incorporate some form of music into a toddler’s schedule and the beauty of it all is that it doesn’t matter what type of music you choose! For toddlers, the Blipblox is a fun way to learn basic electronic music-making and they enjoy the lights. I received a sample for review and had my kindergartner play with it. I watched as he tried the different buttons and knobs, (without telling him what they’re for) and he was having a blast discovering the different sounds and enjoying the lights. It was fun as a mom watching him discover a brand-new toy that’s so unique and different from other, more run-of-the-mill toys.

My older kids tried to figure out what the buttons were for (instructions are included) and they started noticing patterns. Kids of all ages get exposed to melody, tempo, oscillators, LFO’s, filters, envelopes and amplifiers. They both like to be challenged so it was nice watching them as they were figuring out the different knobs and buttons.
