The Best Hamentashen Recipes for Purim from The Mama Maven Blog

03/04/2019 by The Mama Maven

Hamentashen is the traditional Jewish Cookie for Purim and boy, do I love them. And if you need Hamentaschen Recipes – here are a few of my favorite Hamentaschen recipes (regular and gluten free)! The best thing about Hamentashen (yes, I spell it differently all the time) is that you can really customize it. If you like nuts, put nuts in. If you hate nuts, then you leave them out. Get creative and have your kids help you! Even a young child can add a filling to the circle of dough that you give them and they love seeing their hamentashen cookie come out of the oven. Yummy! I have many memories of making hamentashen growing up and it’s something I used to make for my students when I taught. In fact, this is one of the things my husband remembers me when we were dating. He liked that I made Hamenstashen for my students. Now, I make this with my own kids. My daughter especially loves when we make hamentashen! Or how about a cherry coconut hamentashen? These were so good. While I wasn’t sure the flavor combo would work, it was terrific and my family begged for more.

Here’s my S’mores Hamentashen recipe. I love S’mores!

Here’s a gluten-free recipe and several ideas of what to put in. You won’t miss the gluten in these one bit (seriously).

Here’s a little secret, if you really don’t want to make the dough from scratch, find a sugar cookie dough and use that to put fillings in. It will work in a pinch! Enjoy and happy Purim!

What’s your favorite hamentashen recipe?
