Instant Pot Turkey Breast

Contrary to popular belief, making a turkey is always in style. My father, for no apparent reason will just whip up a turkey with all the trimmings on a whim. However, I just don’t have the same inclination. Making things in my instant pot or air fryer has really become so much more convenient. Plus it’s just as delicious! And when I found a 2 pound turkey breast on sale at my local supermarket for two dollars and change, I decided to give it a try to make Instant Pot Turkey Breast. I was astonished at how tender and delicious it came out!

First Steps

You need to take your turkey breast out of its packaging. It was thawed, but if you have a frozen one, google how long to thaw. I removed the skin with kitchen shears (a lifesaver in my kitchen). Then I rubbed buttery spread all over it and then added my favorite spices all over it. I kept it simple and easy (because that’s how I tend to do things).

The next step is to place some more buttery spread in your instant pot, along with two cubes of garlic and turn on the Saute’ button.

Let it heat up and then brown the sides of your turkey breast. I did this for several minutes until I liked the color. Your house will smell amazing.

Then take your turkey breast out, put in your wire rack, add a cup of water or broth, and turn on the manual setting for 30 minutes. It should take around 10 minutes or so to come to pressure, so factor that in. If your turkey breast is bigger, you should cook it for longer. Here’s a great chart from Instant Pot to help with cooking times — https://instantpot.com/instantpot-cooking-time/

Make sure the internal temperature of your turkey breast is 165 degrees farenheit.

I let it sit for 10 minutes and then did a quick release. It’s not going to have the golden color like a oven turkey breast, but it was so amazing and tender.

I didn’t bother even trying to make any gravy, but I took G Hughes Sugar Free BBQ Sauce (we are huge fans) and served that with the turkey breast. Everyone in my family really enjoyed it and I plan to make this again!

Ingredients

2 pound turkey breast, with skin removed
1 cup water or broth
Buttery Spread (or use olive oil)
Two frozen garlic cubes (I used Dorot)
Spices to taste

You’ll need your Instant Pot (I used my 6 quart). This is one I have and the one I bought for my mother.

Instructions

Make sure to remove the turkey breast skin. Rub buttery spread or olive oil all over the turkey breast and then add your favorite spices.
Add two tablespoons of buttery spread to your instant pot, I used Earth Balance because I like it.
I also added two cubes of frozen garlic.
I hit the saute’ button and let it heat up.
Then brown your turkey breast on all sides for around 5 minutes.
Take the turkey breast out carefully, it will be hot!
Put your wire rack in, place your turkey breast back on it and add a cup of broth or water.
Close and lock instant pot and put on 30 minutes high pressure. Make sure to make sure the vent it turned to sealed.
After it goes off, let it sit for 10 minutes.
Check the temperature of the turkey breast with a meat thermometer. It should be 165 degrees farenheit.
Serve!
