Now that my kids are settling in school I am moving on to my next project: getting ready for the holidays! I am not a “last-minute” kind of person – I like to be prepared so I’ve been on the lookout for unique and innovative toys for my kids, nephews and niece. VTech has just what I need, for babies and older kids. At a recent event I got to see a display of toys that was impressive even to this Mama who has kids with toys up the wazoo. Here are some of my favorites:
2-in-1 Shop & Cook Playset
This is the perfect gift for kids who already have a play kitchen and want to still be able to “make food” in another room. The shopping cart turns into a play kitchen (plus an eat-in table) so your kids can move around the house and shop, cook and eat. We received this cart for review and both my 6-year-old and 4-year-old had a blast walking around the house with the cart and piling on it random items they were “buying”. Cooking in the play kitchen was fun and they got really creative. It’s a very basic kitchen with an oven, stove, sink and a cutting board but it comes with 20 accessories such as food and utensils. It’s also interactive and has phrases and asks questions to get the kids more involved, which my kids liked. Ages: 2-5. Price: $49.99. You can purchase it here.
Switch & Go Dinos
Most little boys love vehicles of all types and many also love dinosaurs. Here’s the ultimate combination of the two: dinosaurs that transform into various vehicles in a few easy steps and have sound effects. The showpiece is a T-Rex that turns into a construction crane – it recognizes and responds to commands. Other dinos have more simple features but are just as cool and can turn into a motorcycle, a helicopter, a jet plane and other vehicles. Ages: 3-8. Price: Start at $12.99. You can purchase them here.
InnoTab 3S Wi-Fi Learing Tablet
VTech is known for being a pioneer in children’s learning tablets with Wi-Fi so it’s not a surprise they recently came out with the InnoTab 3S. It features VTech Kid Connect, which is an app that enables kids to be connected to their parents and their friends through tablet-to-mobile and tablet-to-tablet. It also includes a kid-safe web browser and access to an app store where they can purchase learning apps, with their parents’ approval (plus it comes with 20 free apps). Ages: 3-9. Price: $99.99. You can purchase it here.
Cody The Smart Cub & Cora The Smart Cub
These ridiculously adorable bears are a fun introduction of first words and basic skills to babies. The bears come with 40 phrases, as well as songs, stories and melodies and know the time of day so they can greet the kids good morning, sing lullabies at night and they also know when all the holidays are. On top of this, they can be personalized to learn the kids’ names and their favorite songs. Ages: 6-36 months. Price: $19.99. You can purchase it here.
Go! Go1 Smart Wheels Airport Playset
This incredible toy has six smartpoint locations which have phrases, music or sound effects. You can use a variety of Go! Go! Smart Wheels vehicles (purchase separately here) and also connect it to other Go! Go! Smart Wheels playsets. Ages: 1-5. Price: $24.99. You can purchase it here.

I was not compensated for this post. I received a sample.
