All Aboard! Childcraft’s Express Train Set Will Please Tiny Engineers

My 4 year old son loves trains. Passionately. He inherited all of his big brother’s trains and tracks. But over the years, many tracks and trains have gone missing — so our boy didn’t really have a complete set to drive his trains on. So, you can just imagine the total excitement when we were sent the Childcraft Express Train Set from School Specialty Store ($79).

We opened the box and pulled out the track directions. My 9 year old did a great job of setting up the track.

There were straight and curved tracks, plus bridges, 4-car express train,  4-car circus train, track, bridges/overpasses, signs, trees and animals.

Even though we have loads of trains floating around our home, my kids were still thrilled to see more trains. The circus animals that fit into the trains were a huge hit.

We loved the little traffic signals.

We had the set together really quickly.

And my head engineer was pretty proud that he made this happen (I called out the track name and he put it together).

My 4 year old son, 6 1/2 year old daughter, and 9 year old son were all intrigued with the train set.

They keep coming back to our den to play with the set. Which is great, unless I’m trying to get them ready for school. I love the creativity I see (they make up stories as they drive the trains).

The set contains everything children need to create a fun and detailed train ride.

I love wooden toys! That’s a great set. We have a similar one, but it doesn’t have all the extras, like the animals, signs, and trees. This would be fun to put together under the Christmas tree.

We inherited a similar set years ago and it has really stood the test of time. I never realized it was so affordable. I will keep it in mind because it would make a great Christmas gift for a nephew.
