Don’t Miss: Keith Michael’s The Nutcracker – a 1 Hour Performance for Toddlers

12/05/2017 by Maytal

Start a new tradition this year and introduce your toddler to The Nutcracker – the story of Clara’s visit to the land of sweets on Christmas Eve with the Prince. The New York Theatre Ballet is holding, once again, toddler-friendly performances of the famous ballet in a production that is all about color, sound and movement that appeals to very young children (and their parents!) The hour-long performance is recommended for kids ages 3 and up and will include all of the highlights from Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet, such as Waltz of the Flowers and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

From clockwork imps to a luminous owl that flies above the audience, mice dressed in polka dots and dancers dancing with huge chopsticks, this timeless, re-imagined classic bursts with energy and excitement. This holiday ballet… is set in Art Nouveau style circa 1907 with innovative choreography by long-time NYTB choreographer, Keith Michael; set design by Gillian Bradshaw-Smith; and costumes by Resident Costume Designer of the Metropolitan Opera, Sylvia Taalsohn Nolan. Held at the intimate Florence Gould Hall where your child will feel like part of the story from any seat.

When: December 15: Noon, 6pm
December 16: 11am, 1pm, 3:30pm
December 17: 11am, 1pm, 3:30pm
