Kids are curious creatures. They want to know how things are made, why things happen and basically everything there is to know about, well…anything. I typically rely on books to provide them with answers but there’s only so much a book can do. Sometimes you just have to go out there and experiment on your own. The Smartscope is the perfect toy for kids ages 8 and up that allows them to have hands-on experiments and get a close-up look at what they want to learn about.
The Smartscope is a kid-friendly microscope that works with any smartphone or tablet (no app required). Once you assemble it, your child collects any object he or she is interested in – it can be a bug, a rock, a leaf, sand or anything they’re curious about. They place the item in the Smartscope and place a smartphone or tablet o top. Through the camera they can see the object magnified.
The Smartscope comes with instructions for 15 experiments, some of which include background knowledge and other information, such as definitions of all components of the kits. It also comes with a travel bag, so kids can take it outside with them and use it as they explore nature.
