Travel Spotlight: Visiting Vegas

04/09/2013 by The Mama Maven

By Guest Contributor Thomas P.

Although there are lots of great places in America for a family to consider traveling to, Las Vegas has long been one of the most popular destinations, as many are attracted by the entertainment options offered by the resort and the history it has. There is entertainment available for every age; during the day you can take the kids to a show, in the evening you can try the vast array of gaming options for grownups. The primary attraction of Las Vegas has always been the many casinos, with gaming fans coming from all over the world to visit them, and there is no shortage of outstanding ones to explore. One of these is the Bellagio, which represents the last word in opulence for anyone who wants their Vegas visit to be as luxurious as possible. (Read More after the jump).

The Bellagio pretty much takes the already heady levels of quality offered by most of the major casinos in Vegas and ups it by about ten notches. It is a hotel as well as a casino, meaning you can both stay and play here, and it is likely you will want to do both – with astounding views available from absolutely every hotel room in the building and a gaming floor offering every casino game delight you could possibly think of. It can be quite pricey for a whole family, but it can be done, and you can easily keep the kids to the hotel side of the place. This makes the Bellagio the ideal place to enjoy an adrenaline rush at the casino, before unwinding in peace in your room afterwards and waking up to other types of entertainment within walking distance.

However it is not the only place to choose from, as Vegas is ridiculously over-endowed when it comes to casinos and nightspots, with the Luxor Hotel and Casino providing another great option. Like many of the hotels in Vegas this one has a theme, in this case that of the palace of an Egyptian king, and you will feel like just such a king when you enter it, which is especially fun for kids. It is shaped like a pyramid and the light shining from above only adds to the atmospheric splendour. The Luxor is one of the more recent additions to the Las Vegas casino scene, having been built in 1993, just in time before the online slots boom, but it has developed a reputation for high quality accommodation, food and gaming, ensuring that every true casino fan will want to play here during their visit.

What’s your favorite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas? Have you taken your children or gone for a kid-free vacation there?
