Scanimalz Scantastic Pets are cute plush characters with QR codes on their bellies. This is a cuddly toy combines technology and playing games on a compatible smartphone or tablet (that has a camera). (Read more after the jump).
How does it work:
- Download the free iOS Scanimalz App at the Apple App Store or in the Google Play store for Android Scananimalz App
- Scan and KEEP the activation code in a safe place after getting started
- Scan the QR code on the Scanimalz belly to play games
- Track your colletions
- Earn Scantz points which are accrued by having the character eat Scanimalz’ food or squishing Scanaconda, daily SCANtasy spinz, and by adding to your collection
- Work your way up the daily leader board
- Collect more than one with 30+ adorable plush Scanimalz to choose from for hours of play
There are 4 fun games to play and earn points to unlock hats and other items for your pet. If you scan your pet on a daily basis, you earn more points. There are special scanning days and events that will encourage regular visits. It’s nice that the interaction between toy and technology doesn’t end after the first scan. Kids can play online and in the real world. My 6 year old boy and 7 year old daughter both enjoyed the games. It is a cute, soft plush toy and can be brought with you on the go to play anywhere.
How much is the cuddly plush: affordable for $9.99 at www.Scanimalz.com, and will soon be available at Toys R Us and other retailers nationwide. We think they are fun, interactive and reasonably priced.
Who is it for: The plush itself is safe for all ages. While the App/games can be played from 3 or 4 years old and up, we have found that kids ages 6-8 (both boys and girls) enjoy it the most.
This little guy is the limited edition Purple Beta Bear. There were 1,000 of them made and he’s wearing a sash to commemorate his elite status. Series one of Scanimalz will be launched in Spring of 2013. There will be 32 new styles in the first year alone. Rare styles will also be included. Important hints:
1. DO NOT LOSE THE ACTIVATION CODE! Take a picture of it or send it to yourself in an email.
2. Your Scanimalz should not be washed in a washing machine. Instead, use a little light soap on a damp cloth to lightly wipe down your Scanimalz, then go over again with a non-soapy damp cloth and let air dry.
