Fun Family Activity: Ice Skating at South Street Seaport

12/31/2013 by Maytal

by Senior Reviewer Maytal Wichman

I love visiting South Street Seaport in the warmer months when I can enjoy the stunning views, go sailing, spend some time shopping and dining and have my kids run around at the playground. But what I didn’t know is that during the winter months the seaport is actually a busy place, filled with a plethora of events and entertainment. There’s a really awesome ice skating rink that’s actually very affordable and this past weekend I took my daughter ice skating.

Here’s our adventure:

My daughter, who just turned 7, has never gone ice skating before, but she learned pretty quickly and loved every minute of it!IMG_5791

I loved the view of the spectacular Christmas Tree:IMG_5809

The Mistletones Carolers sang some beautiful acapella Christmas Carols:IMG_5821

Hot Chocolate at the Skate Shop was delicious! They’ve got interesting options like Nutella Empanadas, filled Churros and Kielbasa on Pretzel bun.IMG_5823

We had a blast!IMG_5785

When: Through March 2, 2014

Monday – Thursday: 11am – 9pm
Friday – Saturday: 10am – 10pm
Sunday: 10am – 9pm

Where: South Street Seaport

Price: $10 per person for unlimited skating (kids under 5 are free). Skate rental: $6

To Purchase tickets: Head to the rink and look for the Skate Shop, which is next to the rink.

Visit the website to learn more about the ice skating rink.

I was not compensated for this post. I received a complimentary skating experience.
