Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries Recipe ( & Why You Need an Air Fryer)

04/10/2018 by The Mama Maven

I’m going to tell you a little secret. I love french fries – all kinds, but I don’t like how I feel after eating greasy fries. So, when I was offered the chance to try out the Power Air Fryer XL, my little ears perked up. The beauty of the Air Fryer is that you can make things from scratch – like French Fries and use only a light coating of oil– plus, you can warm up frozen fried foods easily and you still get that crispiness that you won’t get in a regular oven or toaster oven. Everything tastes exactly like it would if you used a deep fryer – but it’s much healthier. Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries Recipe ( & Why You Need an Air Fryer)

Making french fries from scratch is also surprisingly easy.

Check out my easy recipe — you just need sweet potatoes, olive oil, and salt.

Peel and then cut up your sweet potatoes.

I bought a french fry cutter and used that, but you can just cut them into wedges if you don’t have a french fry cutter.

Then I soaked my sweet potatoes in a bowl of ice water quickly.

I tossed them with olive oil and added some sea salt. Then I plugged into my air fryer and put it on — 400 degrees for 18 minutes. I did open the air fryer and shake the fries a few times so the fries were cooked through. You can basically try this with any other kind of good french-frying potato!

Ingredients:
Sweet Potatoes (I used 3)
Olive Oil to taste
Himalayan Pink Sea Salt
Ice Water

Instructions:
Peel and then cut up your sweet potatoes.
I bought a french fry cutter and used that, but you can just cut them into wedges if you don’t have a french fry cutter (note: make sure you have it attached to your counter with the suction cup).
Serve!

While I do love to cook for my family, I will buy chicken nuggets for my kids and warm them up in the Air Fryer. It’s quick and they really like the taste of the nuggets so much better that way. So — believe the hype. I like that you can really use a bit of oil and get that deep fried taste (but not all the oil)>
