How to Get Rid of Pesky Fruit Flies Naturally

04/11/2016 by The Mama Maven

How To Get Rid of Pesky Fruit Flies Naturally | The Mama Maven Blog

We live in NYC — which means we have fun things like mice and roaches that love to invade us. However this year, we seemed to have more fruit flies then ever. Perhaps it was because I buy a lot of fruit and vegetables — or maybe it was just my luck. Our awesome exterminator, Eddie, recently gave me some advice and I want to share it with you, dear readers. To get rid of pesky fruit flies naturally, use apple cider vinegar! You can use any kind – just put it into a container and cover it with some tinfoil with holes in it. Then let the fruit flies come to it.

Did it work? Absolutely! I was so surprised, but for the next week or so, I would find around 1-2 fruit flies dead per day.

I put a few containers with apple cider vinegar in my daughter’s room and one in my sons’ room. While it may smell slightly like a salad, it worked. It really worked! I loved that it’s non-toxic and I used the apple cider vinegar that I had in my house.

Note: Donna of Just One Donna suggests adding dish soap to your apple vinegar. Thank you so much for reaching out — here’s her blog post: http://www.justonedonna.com/2016/03/How-to-Trap-and-kill-fruit-flies-all.html

I’ve been using apple cider vinegar to get rid of fruit flies for years, but an important ingredient for success is missing, dish detergent. Check my post here: http://www.justonedonna.com/2016/03/How-To-Trap-and-Kill-fruit-flies-all.html. The dish detergent makes all the difference. The pictures show how great it is. This is such a great tip for everyone to know! Donna(Just One Donna)
