Hairstyles for Girls – Faux French Braids Tutorial

We’ve been fans of SoCozy for a while – in fact, it’s known in my house as the “Good Shampoo” and my kids know not to spill it or dump it in the bath like bubbles! SoCozy is a line of salon formulas for the unique hair needs of kids between the ages of 2 and 12 years old. SoCozy products are non-toxic and made without parabens, formaldehyde, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol. Free of alcohol, gluten, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts. As a mom, I like it because there’s no nasties in here; just good, clean, honest formulations with ingredients that perform at the highest level. Safe and effective – and completely non-toxic – it’s great hair minus the harsh chemicals.

What I also like — SoCozy (founded by haircare expert and mom Cozy Friedman) knows that being a parent isn’t always easy, and SoCozy makes haircare that is: simple, fun, multi-functional products that streamline tub time, as well as solutions targeting specific hair concerns to make styling a snap. Curly, straight hair — SoCozy can handle anything.

I use the 3-in-1 Shampoo on my three kids and it works wonderfully. Even on my daughter who has long, tangly hair. I used to think I needed to use a conditioner on her, but with SoCozy, it’s included in the 3-in-1. We just add some SoCozy styling cream and detangler for her (when we need it) and we’re set.

Picture day is coming up, so I decided to get ready for it with a test run – SoCozy style. My daughter has been growing out her hair for the last year or so, but it’s still shorter in front and hard to braid. When I braid her hair, I can’t do a typical french fraid on her, so I do faux french braids on her. She’s happy and I don’t have to stress about being pinterest-perfect every morning.

My daughter showers at night and uses SoCozy’s 3-in-1 Shampoo, Conditioner and Wash in Mango-Go and then lets its dry and brushes it straight with her Knot Genie Brush (which is worth every penny). So, the next morning, I need a few spritzes of SoCozy’s Detangler/Leave in Conditioner in Fruity Tutti to brush it down and make into two sections.

I take her shorter hairs in the front left side of her head and do a quick braid. Sometimes it will be sort of a french braid, sometimes it’s just a braid. I secure the braid with an hair elastic.

Next, I add some SoCozy Soft Hold Styling Cream in Pear-Fection to my hand.

Then I run it through what I want to braid. It helps me to get a better grip on her hair to braid it.

I take the little braid I made with her long bangs and work it into her braid. I secure it with an elastic and make sure there are no flyaways.

How adorable is my little gal?

And then I start the second faux french braid. Once again I add the SoCozy Detangler.

Then I make the second little braid.

Voila! Two faux french braids.

However, my daughter wanted to put the braids together as one, so I took a hair elastic and tied them together.

She’s perfectly picture-day ready! Thanks SoCozy!
