Give a Child a Shot at Life by Getting Your Seasonal Flu Shots or Immunizations at Walgreens

Times have changed, you don’t always have to make a doctors appointment and then wait for hours in a doctor’s office, just to get immunizations. You can walk into your local Walgreens and get the seasonal flu shot and other crucial vaccines.

But children in other areas of the world don’t have it as easy. Here’s a scary thought:

“1 in 5 children around the globe still lack access to the lifesaving immunizations.”

Walgreens is helping needy children in struggling communities get those crucial vaccines by their partnership with the United Nations Foundations and Shot@Life. This campaign can supply up to 3 Million vaccines to help kids that need it the most.

“Get a Shot. Give a Shot is a Walgreens campaign in partnership with the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign. From September 2nd through October 13th, for every flu shot or other immunization that someone receives at Walgreens, it will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.”

My dear friend Suzanne Chan of Momconfessionals.com has been a Shot@Life Ambassador, which is where I first heard about this amazing organization.

This morning, I went down to Walgreens to get my flu shot (my older son was with me and I had to show him that I could be a good example).

My insurance was accepted and it didn’t cost me a dime.

The pharmacist was professional and while I did tense up –it was over in 10 seconds and didn’t hurt. Seriously!

Like my cute red Walgreens bandage?

I was thrilled that I didn’t have to make a doctor’s appointment to get a seasonal flu shot (and that it didn’t hurt). I always make sure my kids get their shots, but I don’t always make sure I’m covered. Getting it at Walgreens was quick and super easy. In fact, I think I may take the kids to get their seasonal flu shots there – there’s always a shortage at my pediatrician’s office and my daughter doesn’t get her yearly checkup until early January.

So, #GetAShot so you can give a child at shot at life! Find out more at http://walgreens.com/getashot.

Did you also know you can get youth sports and school physicals at participating Walgreens? It’s now $39 with a printable coupon. How awesome is that?
