We’re big fans of Field Station: Dinosaurs park in New Jersey here at The Mama Maven. Both Nancy Horn (The Mama Maven Owner & Editor) and Amanda Gurall (contributing blogger) had previously visited the park with their families and had a blast seeing the the life-like, moving dinosaurs! Be sure to read Nancy’s review here and Amanda’s review here for some great tips! This upcoming weekend (August 3rd &4th) is a homage to the truck – all types of trucks will be displayed throughout the park, along with the dinosaurs. For kids who love dinosaurs and trucks this is a dream come true!
Here’s what’s planned for Dino-Trux weekend: (Read more after the jump)
The event is sponsored by LaQ Construction System, which you may be familiar with as the innovative construction toy that can create flat or spherical models from just seven types of blocks. LaQ sells incredible kits for building dinosaurs such as a T-Rex and a Triceratops, along with many other themes, as well as free-style. Be sure to stop by their station to see a scale model of a skyscraper and participate in the free workshops run by master builder, Rachel Kim. The interactive 30-minute workshops will run each day for children seven and older:
- The Hamacron Gear Workshop will allow young builders to test their engineering skills by participating in a fun activity to build moving wheels and parts!
- In the Tower Workshop – Are you afraid of heights? Park guests can help our LaQ expert build a stackable LaQ tower that has no limits!
- Ms. Kim will also be on-hand throughout both days to assist beginner LaQ builders with dinosaur and truck projects.
With help from the town of Secaucus and Morristown-based Beyer Ford, fire trucks, dump trucks, SUV’s and flat-bed Fords on display throughout the park.
All park visitors are invited to hear Chris Gall’s DinoTrux at the Dinosaur Troubadour’s story times at 11 a.m., 1:30 and 3:15 p.m., and Season and Commander’s Pass holders can hear Revenge of DinoTrux during regularly scheduled story time at the Commander’s Tent. In addition to enjoying the DinoTrux extra programming, Field Station: Dinosaurs explorers can see shows starring a 15-foot Mighty T-Rex and a new 3D movie called Dinosaurs Alive!, look for fossils at a dig pit, and participate in dozens of scientific shows and games like ‘What Color is Your Dinosaurs’ and ‘Dino Whodunit?’
