Don’t Miss: Cirque-tacular: The Art of Circus at the 14th Street Y

09/06/2016 by Maytal

Start the back-to-school season with a visit to the circus; a one-of-a-kind circus, that is. This week, Cirque-tacular will be performing their latest show, The Art of Circus, a performance that includes a combination of dance and circus that is inspired by visual art masterpieces.

The Art of Circus - Copy

The Art of Circus, Cirque-tacular’s newest full length production, derives inspiration from visual art masterpieces that feature dance and circus, as well as world renowned painters, and the time periods and stories that birthed the world’s most iconic images. Featuring thrilling acrobatics, world record holders, elite gymnasts, international recognized circus performers, an original score by 4 time ASCAP award winner, Jesse Elder (Postmodern Jukebox), live musicians, and contemporary musical arrangements corresponding to the major movements in art over the last 500 years, audiences will discover an acrobatic fantasy world that is at once familiar, unexpected, and timeless.

Cirque-tacular Entertainment is a premiere New York City based acrobatic and specialty entertainment company. Through thousands of performances in the last ten years, their work has been enjoyed in over 70 countries, by millions live, in conjunction with the most recognized brands, venues, and arts organizations of our age.

Here’s a sneak peek:

The regular performances are 100 minutes long (+intermission) and recommended for kids ages 10 and older. On September 11, 2016 at 11am, a Special Children’s Performance runs 70 minutes with no intermission; perfect for younger art lovers!

When: September 6th-11th at various times. Click here to see full schedule.

Where: The Theater at the 14th street Y
344 East 14th Street, NYC

Price: $39.50-$75; $25 for the special children’s performance.
