Review: Hours of Motor Skills Fun with Domino Rally Sets

03/16/2013 by Julie T.

By Julie Terrone, Senior Toy Reviewer

Get down on the floor or set it up on a table, but be ready for hours of fun with one of many Domino Rally Sets to choose from. Domino Rally is a great way for children to strengthen their fine motor skills, use strategies and have plain old fun creating their own maze of dominoes or following the instructions that come with many interesting Domino Rally sets. My 6 and 7 year old children recently  had a chance to test out Domino Rally Racing and Domino Rally Pirate Skull Island. (Read More after the jump).

1. Domino Rally Racing: Set ‘Em Up…Race ‘Em Down! My son and daughter each set up a course and fired their race car from the launcher to see which track would be the first to knock down the last domino first. Domino Racing Set turns the fun of knocking down dominoes into an exciting event, as kids race against each other! This set includes 100 regular dominoes plus 50 special dominoes that fall at lightning speed, 2 race cars, loop-de-loops, ring of fire, custom tracks and launching bridge.

2. Domino Rally Pirate Skull Island: My children really “got into” this game by pretending they were pirates and speaking like pirate as they had hours of creating fun. This set includes 200 dominoes and all new pirate themed stunts. It comes with the classic zig-zag tower and camelback stairs, as well as the new plunging palm tree, the zip line of doom, the clumsy casket and the chomping skull cave.

My children enjoyed just being creative and setting up the colored dominoes to knock down. They enjoyed both following the pattern instructions and creating their own pattern of dominoes. What I liked is that they  worked together, shared the materials, were creative, and used strategies and tactile skills (tactile or kinesthetic learners are those who learn through experiencing/doing things; like to experience the world and act out events).

Domino Rally Crazy Factory
Domino Rally Pirate Fortress Attack
Domino Rally 100 Piece Dominoes Gift Set
Domino Rally Pirate Boat Gift Set
Domino Rally Magic Coffin Gift Set
