Bright Stripes iHeartArt: An Art Class in Your Own Home

09/27/2020 by Maytal

Since my kids are studying remote this year, this also means we’re modifying their after-school activities. Music lessons are done online and for additional enrichment, I found a great company that makes art kits that include all the materials you need to create a beauttiful work of art that’s completely your own.

An Art Class in
Your Own Home

Bright Stripes makes iHeartArt, which are art kits that have everything you need to have your own art class at home. I received for review one of their kits: “Mash-Up Art Pack Paint + Pastel. The kit includes 10 acrylic paint tubes, 12 chalk pastels, 3 brushes, a palette and a 25-page art pad, which also includes a technique guide.

My eight-year-old, who loves to draw and paint, has never painted with acrylics and pastels before. He decided to draw a soccer ball on a grassy field, with a blue sky in the background. He began by drawing with a pancil and then using the chalk pastel and rubbing it on the paper using his finger. Once he was done with the soccer ball, he used acrylics and mixed several colors to get the shade he wanted. It’s so convenient to have a palette and a pad with high-quality paper as part of the kit.

My son had so much fun that the next day he used the kit by himself and made a painting of an apple. For kids who are not sure what to draw, YouTube has a lot of simple step-by-step videos for drawing just about everything. Check out the YouTube channel for Bright Stripes for ideas.

Since my son is in second grade, his workload is very light and he ends up having a lot of downtime in the afternoons when he’s done with school. While his siblings are still doing schoolwork, it’s good to know he has a fun and engaging activity that he can do on his own and be creative!

The paint + Pastel kit is $21.99. There are many other kits that include other types of materials. Click here to learn more.

iHeartArt donates 5% of the profits to Art Feeds’ International Program – a non-profit that provides art lessons and materials to kids in need al over the world.

I was not compensated for this post. I received a sample.
