How to Drop the Anxiety and Trust Yourself

09/21/2018 by The Mama Maven

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Depend®. The opinions and text are all mine.

It’s been a very tough year with my son’s Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis last August. Very tough. I’ve worried my head off. I find myself worrying about everything these days and frankly, it’s taking a toll on me. I’ve let worry affect a lot of areas in my life. Too many areas of my life. But I really didn’t realize it until I had a session with Dr. Robi Ludwig recently. Dr. Robi Ludwig is a nationally known psychotherapist, award-winning reporter, and television host. She’s hosted two seasons of TLC’s reality show, “One Week to Save Your Marriage” as well as, GSN’s reality game show, “Without Prejudice?” She has a show on Facebook Watch called “Talking Live with Dr. Robi Ludwig” that I was a guest on a few months ago. She’s someone that I trust and was really thrilled to be able to get her insight. It felt incredible to be able to share how I was feeling as of lately, I’ve just been a ball of anxiety and worry. As a mom who has bladder leakage issues –  I constantly worry that I will have an accident. Even walking a block stresses me out. However, since I wear Depend, rationally, I know that I am protected. And rationally I actually do feel better physically than I have in a long time. But my worry has grown and grown and I lost confidence in myself and in my belief that I am safe with Depend. I had let worry take over my life. I let worry make me even more anxious. It’s been affecting things that I do socially lately and that worries me even more.

But as I spoke to Dr. Robi, I began to feel better as she counseled me. “Worry doesn’t have to be all bad”, she said. She also said that worry could be how I get through my day. That maybe it’s my life management. I can still worry, but maybe I need to interpret it better. Maybe look at it in a different way. I may always worry about my bladder leakage, because that’s my normal, but I do need to realize that I am 100% protected because I do wear Depend. Dr. Robi said I could take control of the worry and realize that this is how I cope with stressful situations. I am hoping that I can dial that down and maybe find some different strategies to deal with life — or just realize that I can worry, but not let myself get too anxious about things that I know will be okay. Like that I know I am protected with Depend.

Depend® brand released new sizing for its men’s and women’s Depend FIT-FLEX® Underwear, designed to be their best-fitting, most comfortable underwear yet. With more sizes than before, new Depend FIT-FLEX® Underwear provides a new, better fit for all body shapes and sizes, an improved waistband and tailored tension with the trusted protection of Depend® brand. Feeling comfortable and confident is possible with a better-fitting undergarment. For me, it’s one less thing to worry about.
