Mazda CX-9: the Car that Grows with Your Family

A couple of weeks ago I took a day trip with my family to Connecticut and got a chance to drive the Mazda CX-9. It’s a 7-passenger Crossover SUV and since we have three kids we were curious to see if a larger car than what we have (a sedan) can make a difference when it comes to a longer ride.

The first thing we noticed when we drove the car was how smooth the ride was – much smoother than expected for a car this size. It had more of a sedan feel than other larger cars we’ve driven before. For example, unlike most SUV’s and minivans, where you can’t see over your shoulder, with the Mazda CX-9 you can, which makes me personally feel more confident when driving. We also loved the backup camera that helped us see where to park when the car was going in reverse. It’s just one of those little things that make life so much easier and less stressful, especially when trying to park in small spots in the city.

The Mazda CX-9 is the perfect car if you want a large trunk space, but are willing to give it up once in a while to make room for more passengers. You can play around with the seats in accordance to how much trunk space you need. You can even take down all of the passenger seats in the back, if you need the space.

That is precisely the reason the Mazda CX-9 is perfect for a young, growing family. At first you can just have the bigger trunk space and as you add more kids and they bring their friends along you have an entire third row, or just one seat in the third row – whichever you choose. It’s also nice to have a third row if you want to hop in the back to calm your baby while your husband is driving (which I ended up doing at various times during the trip).

It was a pleasure to drive the Mazda CX-9 and it made our road trip less stressful and more relaxing even with three kids in tow.

Here is the driver’s seat. I loved the built-in large cup holders on the right.IMG_4357Passenger seat. We were able to stash some books for the kids in the compartment between the seats.IMG_4358The middle row – we were able to fit three car seats in one row:IMG_4359Here’s another view of the middle row. There’s a temperature control in the back which can cool down the entire two back rows.IMG_4360To get into the third row you can easily move forward one of the middle row seats to make space:IMG_4362The third row:  IMG_4361Large cup holders in the third row (two on each side)IMG_4365A view of the trunk: large enough for groceries as is, but can be even bigger if you move one or both seats in the third row.IMG_4364 Here’s another look at the Mazda CX-9:IMG_4355Click here to learn more about the Mazda CX-9.

I was not compensated for this post. I received a loaner car for a few days to test it out.
