What’s a Visit to CityMD Really Like?

09/26/2017 by The Mama Maven

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of CityMD for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. What’s a Visit to CityMD Really Like?

Recently I wrote about how CityMD  is a smart idea for busy parents and kids who need urgent care. Taking my own advice, I decided to make a visit down to CityMD to get a quick checkup and get my annual flu shot (which most of the time, I forget to get anyway). CityMD is a leading urgent care provider dedicated to delivering efficient, state-of-the-art medical care with a uniquely personalized, patient-centric approach. With my son’s recently Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis, I haven’t had any time for self-care or to watch my own health. I decided to leave my son in my husband’s capable hands and headed to CityMD on a Saturday afternoon.

The waiting area is bright and clean, with a large desk for the staff and two self-check-in kiosks. The front desk person directed me to check in and it was so easy. CityMD offers a wide scope of care, including pediatric care, physicals, and they can handle sprained ankles, injuries, and many other issues. You can even get your flu shot there. Need an X-ray? You can get it done right at CityMD. They also take most insurances – please check their website to see if they take yours.

You have to scan your ID and enter your personal information. If you’ve been to CityMD Urgent Care before, your records will come up. Since my visit last year, I was happy to see that my records were already in the system.

I was shown into an exam room pretty quickly. The medical scribe took my information and reasons why I was there. The Dr. came in (I’ll call him Dr. Su for privacy reasons). Dr. Su listened to me talk about why I was there. He understood exactly how I was feeling about my son just getting out of the hospital and why I was worried about my own health. I told him that I get sick when I get stressed and I wanted to prevent that. I also discussed that my sinuses were acting up and he checked them for me. I wasn’t surprised my blood pressure was high – since I have been under a lot of stress. We discussed how I can continue to exercise and have a healthy diet to bring my blood pressure down. I felt Dr. Su really had some good suggestions on how I can keep my health up. Plus, he was kind and attentive – CityMD has a vision on “building healthier communities by serving kindness” and he certainly embodied that.

I even got my flu shot (because with all of our family craziness, I probably wasn’t going to get a chance to get it. Dr. Su was quick and it really didn’t hurt! As I left the exam room, I was given a 3-page printout of what we talked about (how smart is that?). I’ll definitely be back as I felt very taken care of.

CityMD was founded in 2010 by a group of Emergency Medicine physicians who decided it was time for healthcare to evolve by providing convenient, efficient, high-quality care for all. Serving every patient with respect and genuine kindness is the philosophy that has helped grow the company from one Manhattan location to over 70 (and counting) locations throughout the greater New York area and Seattle.

I actually really love doctors offices that have those check-in kiosks. It makes things so quick and easy, especially if it’s a somewhat crowded spot.

Now this sounds all sorts of convenient! Nothing worse than having to wait days for an appointment!

Does seem like a great option for urgent care or walk in when you can’t wait for an appointment with your regular doctor. I’ve seen a few urgent care facilities in our area, but always thought they were for emergencies only.

I’m always the last to get my flu shot because I wait to schedule and usually end up going to a pharmacy for the shot instead. This is a great reminder to get that scheduled!

This is great to have places like this to drop in and out of for the convenience of our busy lives. Especially when it’s time for immunizations.

I am so grateful that there are medical care facilities like this because there are times when you just don’t want to go to the ER. It is always important to call first to see if they can treat your medical issue – for example – not all locations have an x-ray machine. On the other hand
