We Tried it! Making Challah in a Bag (No Knead Challah Recipe)

10/01/2017 by The Mama Maven

My kids are lucky to attend a wonderful Hebrew School local to our home. They do fun crafts to teach about the Jewish Holidays, including making Challah. Recently, my kids brought home challah dough that they made and my job was to bake it. However, I screwed up by not baking it for 2 days. The challah tasted awful when I finally baked it. I felt like I owed my kids homemade challah. So I searched for a good recipe and found one on Your J Story called The Lazy Cook’s Challah in a Bag. The link doesn’t seem to be working right now, so use My Judy The Foodie’s recipe – https://www.myjudythefoodie.com/2017/03/homemade-challah-bag/

I read the comments and figured it was easy than the traditional recipes (sans bag).

These were our results. We Tried it! Making Challah in a Bag!

My father-in-law, Bill, was in charge of making the challah bread, as we were in his kitchen and he’s a better baker than I am. While I love making challah, I only made it once (at a jInspire Challah Event) and frankly, kneading it isn’t fun. I’m great at buying challah, does that count? My father-in-law cheerfully got baking and it was pretty simple.

Note: Follow the directions in the recipe, but be mindful of the comments.

It turned out great and I felt better after screwing up their challahs! We’ll have to try this again next year!
