If you have never seen the Harlem Globetrotters play Basketball, you are missing out on the best ball handling and tricks in the world. I know I have great memories of this team from my childhood, whether it was watching them on TV or actually having the unique experience of being a part of an ABC After School Special that the Harlem Globetrotters filmed at my high school on Long Island in the late 80’s!!
This group of highly skilled basketball players travel the world. Having played more than 24,000 games in 120 countries and territories over the past 86 years, the Globetrotters have never played in Brooklyn! However, the NY area is fortunate enough to have this team play for the first time in the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn on October 7, 2012 at 5:00pm.
These professional players are all about family entertainment! They are extremely accessible and it gives them pleasure to be so intimate with their fans. They are the friendliest and most down to earth professional players in any sport because they make it their business to sign autographs and take pictures with their fans after EVERY game ( they play 270 games in North America alone).
We had the pleasure of meeting fan favorites like Big Easy, who is in his 8th season with the Globetrotters and has traveled to 70 countries around the world with this famous team; Bull Bullard who is in his 5th season; Hammer Harrison who will enjoy a home coming during this game since he is a native of Brooklyn; TNT, who is in her 2nd second season, but only the 9th woman on the team (the last woman on the team was 20 years ago); and Anthony Buckets who is in his 11th season with the Globetrotters. There are 20 more amazing ball handlers on this team who are ready to amaze you and your family.
Every September all the players get together for the very first time to start practicing for the upcoming tour, practicing their best moves to perform in their famous Magic Circle to that oh so famous tune “Sweet Georgia Brown”. Be sure not to miss this great family event.
Check out the fun that the kids and some of the Globetrotters had in these short videos:
