We recently screened the series and found it delightful and education. The first episode sets up the series, with some changes. The new Ms. Frizzle is actually the younger sister of the original Ms. Frizzle, as the original Ms. Frizzle gets promoted to research professor. The class gets a new student and they jet off to the Galapagos Islands to study ecosystems. Arnold has a hard time with the change. He accidentally changes the ecosystem of the Galapagos and has to go back and fix it.

In the second episode, the kids were putting on The Three Little Pigs. A kid theatre blogger (oh, I laughed at this) pans their set for not being “realistic” and they take the magic school bus to Mount Washington to test out what structure would actually withstand wind and things get a little too realistic! Did you know that wind actually goes AROUND trees, not through them???

I love that how science is portrayed in the show and how the kids truly love to learn with Ms. Frizzle and the Magic School Bus. My 7-year-old son and my almost 10-year-old daughter were very into it. My 7-year-old is obsessed with the Blue Footed Booby Bird, as well as Platypuses, so when they went to the Galapagos Islands, he almost lost his mind (the Blue Footed Booby lives there). Graphics-wise, the show definitely got an upgrade, as the 90’s series looked really dated for my kids, even though they liked it. Franky, any show that makes science fun for kids is great in my book!

‘Member The Magic School Bus and wacky Ms. Frizzle from your own childhood? Remember the 90’s? When crimped hair was the thing and the Backstreet Boys were the hottest band around?

Who had at least one of these?
