Review: LeapFrog Tag Human Body Discovery Pack

08/20/2012 by The Mama Maven

Thank you to LeapFrog for sponsoring this review. For more information about the LeapFrog Tag Human Body Discovery Pack, please visit their website #LeapFrogTag #spon

My almost 7 year old son, Benjamin, can not get enough of science. But he’s also a reluctant reader (and after two years of Kindergarten, going into first grade). We were recently sent LeapFrog Tag Human Body Discovery Pack to review and he was intrigued enough to pick up the discovery pack and start using it on his own. We own the Leapfrog Tag US and World Maps, so we’re familiar with how the pack worked. My son unfolded it and started doing activities and games on his own to learn about the human body. (Read More after the jump).

The Kit included a large two -sided chart and game board, an interactive growth chart and glow in the dark stickers. There were over 300 interactive responses and 40 + learning activities. The discovery pack teaches human body facts, body systems, as well as health and nutrition.

My son liked the factoids and had fun playing the games (and didn’t realize he was learning – which made my husband and I very happy). He especially loved the digestive system (yes, I have THAT kid) and following the chart with his Tag Reader to find out how food is digested. Ben is going to 1st grade in a few weeks (he was a kindergarten holdover), so this discovery pack will give him a good head start. Reading is also becoming easier, so the Tag System gives him a boost (he’s a sight word reader like me) and more confidence with literacy. Plus, science is his best subject (so reviewing this was a no-brainer for us).

TIP: Even if your child is a good reader, go over the Body Systems (especially the Skeletal System) with them. There’s a lot of terms that I didn’t even know. My son was in heaven, since my husband reads a kid’s encyclopedia with him almost every night.

Verdict:LeapFrog Tag’s Interactive Human Body Discovery Pack is a great way to teach kids about the Human Body in a fun, interactive way. The Tag reader acts like a guide and helps promote literacy with the materials. I plan to purchase up the Tag Solar System Adventure Pack for his birthday next month.

I was selected for this opportunity as a compensated member of Clever Girls Collective and received free product from LeapFrog to review. The content and opinions expressed here are all my own. #LeapFrogTag #spon
