Obsession: Disney's New Storytime App

We can’t get enough of Disney stories in my house. So, when we were offered a trial of Disney’s new Storytime App, we were really interested. For $1.99 you get three stories included in the initial download (Toy Story: Starry Night, Tangled: Rapunzel’s Story and Monsters, Inc.: Always Time for a Laugh ). The graphics are gorgeous (it’s Disney, would you expect anything else?). Your child can either have the story read to them or read it on their own. (Read more after the jump).

You can purchase (in-app) up to 17 more stories. Which works out to be .52 cents a book. The unique aspect of this app is that it has a new in-app purchasing feature. A password must be entered every time a purchase is made, making it very safe for kids to use. Of course, my kids kept trying to add the stories, but since they didn’t know my password.. they couldn’t do it. When I want to, I can purchase credits, and then my kids can choose which additional stories they’d like. It says “My Book” across the books you “own”, so kids who can read that will know what books you have. If children choose a book that you don’t “own” it will ask them for credits. There is a new avatar feature as well as a “storybuilder,” where kids create their own story!

As my kids are currently obsessed with the app (and listening together and not fighting), I’ll probably end up purchasing the 17 stories. After all, we love Disney!
