How To Save Money on Buying A Used iPhone for Your Kid

My son is a teen. And with a teen, whether I like it or not, the cell phone question is coming up. He will be walking home by himself soon and I would feel better if he had a phone, however, I don’t want him to have something expensive in case he loses it. New smartphones start at a steep cost, $649, and most carriers no longer subsidize the cost. Kids are kids and break and lose smartphones and tablets, so a brand new device may not be a smart to get for kids, even though our kids want smart phones. I think we would get a refurbished iPhone, probably the refurbished iPhone. Having a used iPhone for my son would definitely make this mom happy.

So, if you are wondering how to save money on buying a used iPhone or iPad for your child, this post is for you! We’re thinking of getting a certified pre-owned device for our son. He doesn’t need the latest gadgets and the newest version. And I can save as much as 40% off retail value!

Gazelle is the smarter way to buy smart devices. Gazelle Certified pre-owned is designed for consumers (or their children) who want devices like an iPhones, iPads or Androids at a lower cost than retail value. To be able to get a gently used iPhone is much better than buying a new iPhone (so expensive).

Whether you need a replacement gadget quickly because yours or your child’s just broke or was lost (and you aren’t eligible for a discounted upgrade) or just want to avoid the high hidden costs of buying new, Gazelle is proving that buying used is a really smart and safe way to own a smartphone. Nearly 70% of parents reported that a child in their household has broken or lost at least one smartphone, according to a Gazelle survey.

Gazelle is the only used gadget provider to offer a rigorous 30+-point inspection on all devices and back every transaction with a 30-day money back guarantee. Buying a used device from Gazelle is easier than buying from a wireless carrier – no contracts and no strings attached. Gazelle provides a great customer experience.

If you’re not quite ready to buy,  subscribe to the Gazelle email list to receive a $10 voucher when you buy within 2 weeks. NOTE: Wait on the page until the pop-up appears, and then enter your email address without closing out of the box.

Shop Gazelle.

This is so true! My son has gone through 2 tablets, 2 iPads, a couple of MP3 players, and a couple of the older style flip phones. Kids are naturally clumsy as they grow and change, so these (rather too) fragile devices tend to get broken.

Maybe for Christmas this year, I’ll look into Gazelle to get him his newest paperweight… er, I mean, cell phone. 😉

From one parent to another, thanks for sharing!

This is great! I had no idea that something like this existed. I can’t tell you how many times my kids have broken their phones over the years. Having a place like this to buy from could really come in handy. Thank you!
