Don’t Text and Drive! Take the Red Thumb Pledge (+Giveaway) #RedThumb

12/16/2014 by The Mama Maven

red-thumb-download-logo-profile-picture

Each year, too many people die because of texting and driving. But we can do something about it. As in turning our thumbs red to remind ourselves NOT to text and drive. I’ve teamed up with Nissan to join the #RedThumb movement. This movement was started by a man named Steve Babcock who painted his thumbnail red to remind himself to put down his phone while driving. We can all help by taking action to reduce fatalities by encouraging our friends and family to turn their thumbs red and pledge to put their phones down while driving.

So I turned my thumb red.

redthumba

I took the Red Thumb pledge to turn my thumb red, in order to remind myself not to text and drive! I encourage you to do this too — turn your thumb red and pledge NOT to Text and Drive. You can find out more about the #RedThumb movement and how Nissan is supporting it here: http://www.nissanusa.com/redthumb/.

Thanks to Nissan, we’re offering a #RedThumb Pledge Giveaway.

The giveaway includes:

· $25 Cash Card

· Red Thumb Prize Pack Kit which includes a Red Thumb Band, a Dashboard Grip Pad and a T-shirt.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Thank you to Nissan USA for providing compensation and the prize packs for this post. As always, all opinions are my own.

I keep my purse in the back seat of my car and on silent when I was driving, my phone is out of sight and out of mind.

I wouldn’t need to turn my own thumb red, because I would not text and drive. I am constantly campaigning in my own life for people to not text and drive.

I could do it with nail polish, though,

I would let my daughter paint my thumb red with finger paint or nail polish. Good bonding time with her AND an even more important reminder to stay off my phone when driving – I have 2 children and I want to be around for a very long time!

I would use red nail polish like you did – but I’m always good about keeping my phone out of reach. Not worth it – at all!

Oh I love that idea! So important! Our community lost a teen who was texting and driving, so very sad. I always put my phone down and do not pick it back up until I arrive at my location!
