Awesome Low Carb Snacks: Seasnax Organic Roasted Seaweed Snack and Chomperz Crackers

03/23/2018 by The Mama Maven

Have you heard of SeaSnax? Since my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I am always on the lookout for healthy lower carb snacks for my son to take to school. SeaSnax is one of the brands we’ve been buying since his diagnosis 7 months ago, since we were told that the roasted seaweed snack was basically no carbs (which means my son didn’t have to give himself any insulin shots if the total carbs for the snacks were under 5 carbs). SeaSnax is organic, non-gmo project verified, kosher, vegan, paleo, whole30 & gluten-free.” And as the tagline says, “strangely addictive”. So no carb snacks and snacks under 5 carbs were what we packed for his morning and afternoon snacks at school. While I wasn’t able to attend the ShiftCon Conference, I was asked if I’d like to try some of the fantastic natural products that were shown at the conference. Since we were already fans of SeaSnax, I happily accepted. We were sent the SeaSnax in Lime and the Chomperz Crunchy Seaweed Chips in Original flavor.  Awesome Low Carb Snacks: Seasnax Organic Roasted Seaweed Snack and Chomperz Crackers

Note: Roasted Seaweed Snacks are terrific for low carbers or people with Type 1 Diabetes. I would stockpile the Roasted Seaweed and send it to school often. However, I had to take the roasted seaweed out of the package and put it in another package (because it’s loud to eat in class because of the crinkly package). My son could have the whole package as a snack and I felt confident that it was healthy and had no cholesterol, trans fats, MSG, carbs, or gluten.

I already knew that my kid would like the roasted seaweed snack and I wasn’t surprised when he did. I liked it too – the lime flavor added a tangy kick to the roasted seaweed.

However, we all FELL in love with the Chomperz Crunchy Seaweed Chips. They were on the lower carb side, but not as low carb as the roasted seaweed. However, my son is on an Insulin Pump now so even if he wanted to eat the whole bag, it was only 12 carbs. He would just input 12 carbs into his pump and enjoy the bag.

There are two servings in the bag, if I sent it into school, I would let him have the whole bag (which still wasn’t a crazy amount). My husband and I really liked the Chomperz too and I will definitely buy them for us.
