Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair: The Chair That Grows with Your Child

Moms, by default, are a resourceful bunch. We can turn turn practically any piece of cloth into a stroller cover; we can designate anything as an impromptu diaper-changing station; and, if the need be, we can make use of a very small living space and squeeze as many toys and gear as humanly possible in a way that doesn’t make us look like hoarders. I live in a very small apartment, so everything has to have more than one purpose. Our dining table doubles as the kids’ arts & crafts table; we stack tons of board games and puzzles under the train table. And with the Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair we have a high chair for the baby, that’s also a seat for one of us to sit on when the baby’s not in it. I recently received the Tripp Trapp High Chair in Walnut Brown for review. After putting it together (which was ridiculously quick and easy) the one thing I noticed about it right away was how gorgeous the wood looked. We have lots of wooden items in our house, such as bookcases and a piano, so the rich, brown color fit right in with our theme. I also noticed that the high chair is very sturdy – the quality of the material is very noticeable. I put my 8-month-old in it easily, it literally takes seconds to strap him in. I did not use the Baby Set since my son has been sitting on his own since he has been 5-months-old and can sit very straight with just the straps (I don’t leave him in there unsupervised either way). The high chair comes right up to the table so my son can sit with us during meals and nibble a little while we eat.

The award-winning high chair has solid construction that makes it very secure and it is made of sturdy beech wood that lasts for years. That certainly comes in handy as we plan on using it for many years, even after the baby outgrows it. In fact, the baby will never outgrow it! the Tripp Trapp grows with your child until adulthood! All you have to do is adjust the seat and foot plate for both height and depth and this allows you to have your child sit on the high chair for many years, all the while sitting ergonomically correct. In fact, while we have set the foot plate so that it fits the baby, my 6-year-old daughter, my four-year-old son, my husband and myself can sit on it easily and comfortably. As our baby grows we will adjust the seat a little lower for better back support but even now it feels very comfortable.

The design of the Tripp Trapp, by Peter Opsvik, is nothing short of genius. It seems surreal that one chair can seat both a 6-month-old and an adult and amazingly the Tripp Trapp has been around since 1972! It is a good investment, even if you only use it for one child, as it can be used for many years, and by all members of the family.
