Spider-Man: Homecoming DIY Costume Challenge

07/06/2017 by The Mama Maven

I admit that my craft skills aren’t what they were before I had kids. I had time then, a craft room….and disposable income. Now, I’m crammed in an apartment with three delicious (yet really loud) children and a husband. But when Sony challenged me to make my own Spider-Man costume, I thought to myself, “What would Peter Parker do?” and I got out my scissors and craft glue.
We were taken to Goodwill and given $25 to spend. SpidSpider-Man: Homecoming DIY Costume Challenge | The Mama Maven Blog

Right after the Spider-Man: Homecoming Press Conference that I attended, we stopped at Goodwill. I got all this at Goodwill in Manhattan for $22.95 (and donated the rest right to Goodwill).

This was going to be for either my daughter or my younger son. I ended up making the costume (using glue, no sewing for me) and my daughter sewed the mask. She’s the sewer and I was very impressed with her dedication to her task.

Check out my blog post on the Spider-Man: Homecoming Press Conference (even though I’m only a blogger, not a real reporter — forget that I have a Communications degree, 5 years in TV production, and 10 years as a blogger) and our Peter Parker Inspired sail around Manhattan. #behindthedoorSpider-Man: Homecoming NY Press Conference + Sail Around ManhattanI was not compensated for this post.

I mean if you did a costume this good without the craftroom and extra time I can just imagine what you would with that becuase this was really good.

Oh wow you nailed it with that costume – I’m so impressed!!! With 3 kids now, and dress up and Halloweens and all that jazz, I need to get in on this DIY thing!! Maybe time to invest in a sewing machine and some lessons!

I love this challenge! You are much more creative than I could ever be, but how cute to put this costume together. Do you think that Allegra will wear it for Halloween?
