Travel Right with the Kia Sorrento

11/24/2013 by The Mama Maven

This past summer I had the pleasure of (and it was) driving both long and short distances in a Kia Sorento. The timing was perfect and it coincided with soaking up the last, lazy days of summer. Well, it wasn’t as lazy for me as I was working on projects back at home while my husband took the kids to New England. We usually take the New England trip together and I never want to drive (my husband does all of the driving). However, this trip I would be driving by myself, which I saw as the perfect opportunity to truly experience the Kia Sorento. The minute I saw it in front of my house, I knew that I would be driving right. First, I just had to stop, and grab a Starbucks, my signature vente breve misto with a pump of chai for the road.

Since I was going to be meeting up with my family in New England, I was beaming with excitement because they were going to love this car, I just knew it. What is not to love? Not only is it sleek and cool, there are some really incredible features that contribute to the entire driving experience.

Some of the features that I found really helpful (and snazzy I may add) gave me the comfort, support, and luxury I had been missing. Truth is, I love my Honda Odyssey, however, we do not have all of the ‘bells and whistles’ that the Kia Sorento had. Some of the features that I really loved (not just for me, but for my family as well) included:

  • Loved the feel of the hand-stitched, Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel and Gearshift Knob. Speed Racer anyone?

  • I could switch my style of driving thanks to FlexSteer tunable electronic steering. Some of the settings include standard, sport or comfort.
  • I really, really enjoyed the Automatic Climate Control (and so did the passengers). They were able to adjust their personal temperature settings. Rear-seat passengers can also control ventilation outlet.
  • Loved how the doors were illuminated when I locked and unlocked the car, which also helped me see the door handles at night.
  • Another lovely, lovely feature in the Kia Sorento is the Panoramic Sunroof which brings light and fresh air to not just the first row but the whole cabin Trunk Space.
  • I also really appreciated the Blind-Spot Detection, an available Radar System. I was changing lanes a lot, so this nifty bit of technology alerted me as to when vehicles were in my blind spot. I felt extra safe.
  • I also really felt safe (especially since this was not my car) with the concealed in the rear bumper. I just can’t get enough of this system that activates an audible warning when a foreign object gets too close to the car.

  • I was never bored, especially with over 130 channels including 69 that are 100% commercial free music and entertainment. I would love, love to get SiriusXM Satellite Radio again in my future (hint to the husband).

  • I really appreciated the Voice-Command Navigation, which includes 8′ vivid color, touch screen and real time highway conditions from SiriusXM Traffic. I did not get lost once!

This car is just fabulous and a great fit for families or even empty nesters. See what’s new and follow Kia on Facebook, youtube, twitter, and Pinterest. I feel that you will also find that driving just feels so right with a Kia Sorento.

Disclaimer: The opinions in this post are my own. I did receive a Kia Sorento to drive and write this review.
