Hot Video Game Review: Madden NFL 13 for Xbox 360 and Playstation3

08/29/2012 by Julie T.

By Julie Terrone – our Senior Toy & Video Game Reviewer. Email nancy@themamamaven.com if you’d like Julie to review your product.

If you have a video-gamer in your house who loves Football, then you know that Madden NFL 13 will be in stores, starting today,  Aug 28, 2012. The much anticipated game has some great new features that Football fans will love.

I got the chance to play this game and it really connects you to the NFL like never before. It is powered by the all new Infinity Engine, so every impact on the field is more intense, every battle is more authentic and no two plays will ever look or feel the same. The Infinity Engine really does produce a new and beautiful football experience like no other Madden game.

Some New Features: The game got a complete audio and visual overhaul that delivers top of the line presentation above any other Madden game in the franchise. A new broadcast team gives you play by play. Connected Career mode is a little complicated but gives you a great deal of features. Connected Careers is based on the real draft selection of the NFL. This gives you the story mode you never had before. The Connected Career can be played both online and offline; you can play offline career by yourself or  you can play online career by yourself or with others. In this game you can only play one person per league on the same console.

This game is available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game systems.
It is rated “E” for Everyone.

Questions about Connected Careers Mode:

These questions were answered by Josh Looman, the Senior Designer of the game who was  interviewed by Justin Dewiel, EA sports, Senior Community Manager obtained in a video.

Q: What does it mean to be a coach? A coach controls offense, defense, special teams and can make trades, draft and sign players; you are in complete control as a coach and the best thing is you can’t get fired (if you turn off that mode).

Q: As a player, what is the most fun feature? You can call plays as a quarterback and make adjustments at the line. You can only control yourself, can make adjustments and play how you want to play.

Q: Can you play as a coach and a player? You can change from player to coach at anytime; if you control a player and retire him after a short time – you quit him and the player just goes back into the league.

Q: Can you explain team specific ratings? Every team has different types of players which changes the ratings per team. As players get older they regress in skills/ratings.

Q: Can you coach online or be in a league at the same time? There is no limit right now, as to how many leagues you are in as a coach or a player.

I was invited to EA’s Hot for the Holidays showcase and got an advance look at games that will be released before the Holiday season. I was not compensated with a console game or anything to review this product.
