I always find it interesting to see how cartoon characters transform into characters on stage at a live performance. I recently attended the premiere of Angelina Ballerina: The Very Merry Holiday Musical at Vital Theater in Manhattan and thought the production was top-notch. My children, especially my daughter, are huge fans of the TV show so I thought they’d enjoy a live performance. I am happy to report they had a blast at the show. My three-and-a-half-year-old kept asking, “Why are the mice so big?”. I guess seeing cartoon characters on TV come to life can really have an effect on children! (Read more after the jump)
In the show, Angelina and her friends are planning a holiday pageant but when their costumes get sent to another town and the new costumes that they get are not the right ones, they have to figure out a creative solution to the problem to save the show. Polly, Angelina’s little sister, saves the day and the show becomes a huge success!
With catchy songs and dazzling holiday decor (both on stage and outside the theater), the show, was a huge hit with both my kids, as well as with the audience. Both kids and adults seemed to be smiling a lot, especially during the songs. Angelina’s friend, Marco, stole the show with an adorable little song and dance routine.
At the end of the show all of the kids were invited to come dance on stage with the cast and later got autographs.
