Add more magic to the magical season of the holidays by seeing some jaw-dropping illusions that will keep you glued to your seat! This month, magician and illusionist Jason Bishop is performing at The New Victory Theater in a breathtaking show you don’t want to miss! Must-See Show – Jason Bishop: Believe in Magic at The New Victory Theater
Accompanied by his talented assistant Kim Hess, Jason Bishop will simply leave you dumbfounded. I recently saw his show, Believe in Magic, and was both amazed at the clever tricks and a little frustrated that I couldn’t figure them out! Jason uses a mix of classic magic tricks, such as sleight of hand, as well as illusions that are unique to him. Either way, all of his tricks are simply mind-boggling! Each trick is more amazing than the next. One of my favorite tricks on the show is when his assistant just disappears into thin air and then somehow appears in a box nearby.
Jason has a lot of charisma and wit. His humor appeals to both kids and adults alike and his easy-going, laid-back stage persona makes him very relatable. I must admit, though, Gizmo, his Yorkshire Terrier which appears in one of the acts, stole the show with his cuteness. Nevertheless, Jason’s magic tricks and illusions are simply unforgettable and perfectly executed.
No less impressive is Jason’s personal background; he was placed in an orphanage at a very young age and then shuffled between several foster homes until he was 18. When he was a teenager he read some books about magic at his local library and taught himself tricks. Having him come this far – he performs 150 shows per year and has also performed all over the world – is magical in and of itself. Jason Bishop not only believed in magic – he believed in himself!
The show is one hour and 45 minutes and includes one intermission. It’s recommended for kids ages 6 and up but I think five-year-olds will enjoy the illusions just as much. Who doesn’t enjoy floating balls, disappearing people, disappearing balls and floating people?!
