Getting my hair colored at a salon is one of the few luxuries I allow myself to have. Everything else – taking care of my hair, preventing the color from fading too soon and making my hair look presentable is up to me. I don’t have a lot of time (or energy) to spend hours on my hair and so I rely on products. I recently discovered a company called Mastey that has great products for color-treated hair.
The Mastey Color Protection line has a number of products – from shampoos to leave-in masks to styling. All products are rich in anti-oxidant grape seed extract, rice amino acids, certified olive oil and Argan oil. They’re 100% vegan, offer UV protection and are not tested on animals. I received a few products for review:
The shampoo strengthens the hair, repairs damage and protects and prolongs hair color. I loved how light it felt, with no build-up. It made my hair feel thicker, which is nice.
The conditioner smoothes and detangles, eliminates frizz and gives hair a healthy, silky finish. After a few washes I did notice that my hair seemed softer and smoother. It felt thicker, but without the pouf of the frizz.
This was my favorite product. It definitely helped tame down some of the frizz and added a little shine. It seals in hair color and can help prevent breakage and split ends.
At first, when I put the foam in my hair, it made my hair feel rough and hard. It’s supposed to give your hair volume and lift the roots but that didn’t happen to me right away. I didn’t like the way my hair looked or felt but decided to leave it in my hair and not wash it. The next day what was supposed to happened, happened! My hair seemed fuller because the foam lifted my roots. It looked great and there was definitely volume. The part that was rough felt soft to the touch. I guess the secret is to use the foam one day before you want to get the volume.
