I recently spent spent $48 at The Children’s Place and here’s what I scored:

Two pairs of sweat pants in pink and purple ($4 each) and a pair of colorful pants for my daughter ($12). Two pairs of jeans for my son ($8 each). Three long-sleeve shirts for my son ($4 each). Total: five pants and three shirts for under $50 – pretty impressive, especially when they’re beautiful and comfortable clothes I know my kids will wear through the winter and beyond.

Leepz flash-powered sneakers have high-rebound footbeds for bigger jumps and faster runs. According to my kids the Leepz felt great on their feet AND made them jump higher. And when you’re running around as a kid, you want to keep jumping higher.

Or when you’re acting like a dinosaur (which happens often).

Here in NYC we can keep going to our parks until it snows. We dress in layers and let our kids get their steam out at the playground. Their elementary school is great about recess, but I want to make sure they stay active. I do miss having a backyard, but we do spend time upstate at my in-laws and at my parents’ house when we can.

My daughter loves the lights and the hot pink color of her Leepz — it even matched her scooter.

My gal loves scootering, but our goal this year is to get her riding a bike, like her big brother does. We want to have my youngest start scootering and then biking.

As the weather is starting to get cooler and kids are getting back to school, I am carving some time for myself to get some fall/winter shopping done to prepare for colder days. With three kids, my budget is limited and I need clothes that are cute, but also durable enough to be passed on to younger siblings. Summer is sadly coming to an end but, as they say, every end is a new beginning so I’m beginning to go shopping! My kids are starting school in a couple of weeks and need some new fall and winter clothes so I headed out to the Children’s Place to see what’s new for fall.

For girls I saw adorable tunics and baggy sweaters that can be paired with tights for a casual and fun look. Hot pink is a dominant color this winter and I saw it in almost every single piece of girls’ clothing. I love these fun skirts and boots – just wear them over tights and throw on one of these jackets and you’re good to go – even on a cold day!

For boys there were some really cute options. Spiderman and TMNJ are still going strong and the Children’s Place denim are always reliable and will hold well through lots of washes.

There were also cute items for toddlers and babies:

My 7 -year-old daughter is at an age where she refuses to leave the house without at least a few accessories and she likes to match everything to her outfit. It’s hard to have every single color that matches everything she owns —  but the accessories at the Children’s Place are very affordable and come in lots of different colors.

Hard to believe Summer is more than halfway over. I’m getting ready to do some back-to-school shopping for my kids and I’m starting to think about clothes for the holidays. I recently attended an event which showcased clothing and gift ideas from Lands’ End. Most items will be available as we get closer to the holiday season but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of what we’ll see in stores soon:

December is the only time you can not only get away with wearing Christmas plaid, but also shine in it. Even though it’s a busy pattern it can bring a pop of color to an outfit if the colors are more-or-less from the same group of colors.

These red and navy stripes work for the entire family. I’m a big fan of navy year-round, but for the holiday season it’s especially elegant and since it can go with almost anything you can decide how to build your look with it. In this particular collection it has a more casual look, mostly because of the bright red horizontal stripes.

Another color I love for the fall and winter season is gray. Here it is in tweed and wool material for a more dressy look – perfect for holiday parties.

Navy and gray are classic winter colors but the ultimate color for the holidays is, of course, red. In the picture below you can see how red is incorporated in the outfits with holiday sweaters for that Christmas-y look for a casual yet elegant look.

Who says you can’t wear bright colors in the winter? In the display below you can see a pop of yellow, blue, bright red and even a little green along with the navy and gray. It’s okay to mix dark and light shades, especially when the brights are in the form of a fun outdoor winter jacket.

The play of dark and light colors is displayed in the below picture as well. A pea coat gets a feminine look with a bright, bold color. For men and boys it’s safer to stick to dark colors when it comes to pea coats.

Lands’ End has some elegant and timeless gift ideas. Throws, slippers, tote bags and scarves can be monogrammed for a personalized touch.

I have a 4-year-old boy and an almost-one-year old boy, so when I go shopping I tend to buy mostly clothes for my older one in hopes that he’ll keep them clean enough for the baby to wear when he’s older. I put a lot of emphasis on quality and Levi’s is a brand that reflects quality, casual clothes. Converse, the popular shoe company, now has clothes with really cool designs. Between the two brands I found some “classic with a twist” items for my boys that are perfect for the fall/winter season.
