Jif is helping spread a little more love in the world by launching the Imagine If, With Jif program to help fuel and nourish the potential of the next generation. In this day and age, this is something for good and here at The Mama Maven Blog, we support that. Together with a panel of contest judges, including actress and mom Melissa Joan Hart, Jif will award $50,000 to support three families’ entrepreneurial and creative ideas. Now through October 20, parents and kids can submit their family’s ideas at jif.com/imagine-if for a chance to receive funding and turn their ideas into reality. Melissa Joan Hart’s Top Five Snacking Tips
#1: Get the whole family involved with meal prep on Sunday and plan ahead. Start the week off right with premade entrees, pre-packed fruit snacks and portioned veggies to help you and the family stay on track with a healthier lifestyle.
#2: Protein is a must for me and my kids. Don’t leave home without a simple PB&J sandwich or Jif To Go snack cups – fresh-roasted peanut butter taste packed with protein is very satisfying and something I feel good about giving my kids.
#3: Sneak in fruits and veggies in creative ways. My family loves smoothies, juices and desserts and I’ve learned how to add things like kale and bananas – the kids don’t even notice! Variety is my friend so I don’t get bored with my snacks.
#4: Invest in a fun snack bag. I never go anywhere without my snack bag that I keep in my gym bag or purse. It helps me keep healthier snack options within reach all day long no matter what I’m doing.
#5: Start every day on the right foot with the right mindset. After I do my morning workout or run, I start my day adding peanut butter to my morning shake. It keeps me full for hours and keeps cravings to a minimum.
In honor of this contest, I whipped up lunch for my oldest son who has Type 1 Diabetes using Jif and Smuckers on a sandwich, plus popcorn, and a clementime for 67 carbs. Peanut Butter is a great source of protein for him!
