My husband and I are readers. From babyhood on, we have read to our kids daily. Even when we’re tired, we always make sure our children are read to (plus, who can resist a child climbing into your lap with a book?). It’s so important to promote literacy and instilling a lifelong love of reading. This year, on October 3rd, we are going to read together and help break a WORLD RECORD in support of literacy and early childhood education!
Last year, more than 2.3 million people across the world joined in to “Read for the Record.” This year, I will be part of the group that breaks that record.
October 3rd is the one day where millions of people across the world sit down and pledge to read for their kids to support JumpStart’s mission to work towards the day that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.
The Program has raised more than $8 million dollars for early education programs.
This year’s book is the highly acclaimed “Otis” by Loren Long. Take the Pledge to Read with your kids, and let me know how YOU plan on participating with your family!
