Have loved ones out of town? Hallmark’s Recordable Storybooks are a great gift book for any child to hear the voice of a faraway loved one. My parents and I were in cahoots to surprise my daughter. They are “snowbirds” (alternating living in Florida 3 months out of the year and then living in our same town in NY for 3 months) and they spend the winter months away. My three kids miss them so much, so this book is a great way to hear Grandma’s voice at bed time when it is too late to call or use Skype to see each other on the computer. My daughter had an ear to ear grin on her face when she first opened the book and heard Grandma reading the newest addition to Hallmark’s collection of recordable books called “That’s What Grandmas Do! A wish for my grandchild”. This is a book that allows Grandma to tell her grandchildren exactly how much they’re loved in a fun grandma sort of way.
I love this idea and I think it is a great way to allow someone who is not able to be present to still take part in story time. Capture a loved one’s voice and don’t worry, the recording is saved even when the battery needs to be changed.
This book is not only for Grandparents and children, but is a great way for the military families who have loved ones faraway to stay connected with a special message to add on each page. No matter what the reason, the concept of this product is fantastic. It allows the child to use listening skills and tracking skills to follow the words on the page.
There is a large selection of recordable books available at Hallmark stores. These books sell for $29.95, but the end result is priceless!!
