Flowers are beginning to bloom here in New York and everyone seems to be excited in anticipation for warmer days ahead. What I’ve been excited about is designing outfits on The Patchery with my nine-year-old daughter. I have designed the last two outfits all of my own (you can see them here and here) and I thought they came out stunning (if I may say so) but I was looking forward to seeing how my own and my daughter’s creativity can mesh together as we sat down to design her next outfit.
We decided to pick a dress to design and selected the Pleats and Pockets Dress ($52) because it looked cute for spring and warmer weather. At first my daughter was a little confused about putting the right fabric on the right part of the dress but she learned very quickly. Once she got the hang of it she started playing around and trying the different fabric collections on it. She had way too much fun trying out all of the different possibilities. It was a real treat for her and I loved watching her get creative. Ultimately she chose the “Rosings Estate” collection because of the tiny flower print and bright colors. I thought it was a very good choice. Here’s a detail of the pattern:
Stay tuned for my next post in which my daughter will design an outfit with very little help from me.
