Creating Family Traditions with Welch’s #Spon

And the grape juice we’ve always used has been Welch’s Grape Juice. My parents gave it to me, I give it to my kids.

But what I didn’t know is that how healthy Welch’s brand is. I knew it was 100% juice  with no added sugar, color or flavor. using Concord grapes (which are heart healthy). But I didn’t know that Welch’s uses the entire Concord grape – skin, seeds and all – to release natural plant nutrients (polyphenols) straight from the grape. More than 20 Concord grapes are squeezed into each 4-oz. glass.

Welch’s is owned by 1,150 family-farmers across America and in Ontario, Canada, who make up the National Grape Cooperative. Welch’s grape juice is such an easy way to get more purple fruit into your diet. While you should still be eating whole fruits, each 4-oz. glass counts as one serving (1/2 cup) of fruit. You are getting a shot of  the antioxidant vitamin C in each 4-oz. glass. As someone who is having trouble with drinking citrus juices right now, it’s a great way to up my vitamin C intake.

Our new family tradition is making smoothies with Welch’s Smoothie Kits. My oldest child, Ben (who’s 8 years old) hasn’t always been the best eater (putting it mildly). For the past two years I’ve been making him smoothies to make sure he some extra calories and nutrients in him. My youngest child, Skylar (who’s 3 years old) will rarely eat anything in the morning. But he will never refuse a smoothie. But mornings get rushed and I don’t have the time I’d like to create a smoothie for both my boys. So, Welch’s Frozen Smoothie Kits are a great thing to keep in my freezer, so I can make smoothies really quickly and easily.

Welch’s Frozen Smoothie Kits are manufactured by Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods, and use fruits picked at the peak of freshness and frozen. To make the smoothies, add contents of the package, milk and Welch’s 100% juice into blender, blend and enjoy. Welch’s offers four flavors including Mixed Berry, Strawberry Banana, Blueberry Cherry Blend and Strawberry Mango. I use regular whole milk when I make this for my kids and almond milk for me. The current fave in my house is the Strawberry Banana. The smoothies are 140 -150 calories per prepared serving (there are two in a package), it’s made with non-fat Greek Yogurt and it’s an excellent source of calcium when prepared with milk. It’s also high in vitamin C inside.
