Sometimes you just want to unwind and relax and not have to worry about your to-do list. Chick Flicks are made just for those moments – relax with a friend or a group of friends and enjoy a feel-good movie about women you can (at least somewhat) identify with. The eponymous off-Broadway musical is exactly that: a chick flick in the form of a musical.
I recently saw the show with a good friend and it was exactly what I needed. The show is about four friends at different stages of their lives. One is married and has a teenager, another is in a relationship, a third has just begun dating someone and the fourth is more focused on her acting career. To unwind from their daily stressful lives the friends decide to have a “girls night in” and watch a chick flick. After a few drinks they each reveal secrets about their seemingly perfect lives and in the end they rely on their friendship to help them through.
The show was fun to watch and the dialogue was witty and clever. There were lots of references to famous chick flicks. I think most women who love these types of movies will get the references but most of the references are simply quotes, so you don’t need to know the film to enjoy the show. The show is fun either way and ends on a happy note.
