Big Changes for Dannon Yogurt: A Better Yogurt for a Better Planet

03/06/2017 by Maytal

As parents we want to ensure that are our children eat nutritious food so we encourage them to eat healthful food that is good for them. Yogurt has always been considered a heathy-ish food that parents can feel good about and give to their kids as part of a meal or as a snack. But as times changed so has parents’ discerning taste has changed. As parents, we now realize that not all yogurts are created equal. Many yogurt brands contain ingredients that are actually harmful to people – especially young children. Luckily the folks at Dannon have been in tune to what parents really want: yogurt that is all-natural and contains ingredients they feel comfortable giving to their kids. Yeah Dannon Yogurt!

The Dannon Pledge is proof that Dannon is now aware of what consumers want. And Dannon is working hard to ensure that their products adhere to this pledge. For example, all of the ingredients in Dannon yogurt are non-GMO – from the milk in the yogurt, to the granola on top, to the fruit on the bottom. Dannon is also working with farmers to remove GMO ingredients from the cow’s feed. By the end of 2017 , all Danon products will include non-GMO ingredients and will be made with milk made from cows with non-GMO feed. And if there are GMO ingredients, they will be labeled on the box. The Dannon Pledge also includes using natural ingredients that are non-synthetic as well as using less ingredients in general. Yeah Dannon Yogurt!

But that is not all. The Dannon Pledge expands to a much greater commitment that can impact more than the people who buy yogurt. Dannon is pledging to use sustainable agriculture to create an even larger impact. Dannon will work only with farmers they know, so they will be able to work together with them on environmental issues that can impact our world, such as improving biodiversity, soil health and water usage. They are also implementing animal welfare practices via the Validus Certification System, as well as encouraging other practices that contribute to sustainable agriculture.

Through their pledge, Dannon has demonstrated that they have a genuine interest in truly listening to consumers and to what people really want in their yogurt. And they are acting on it on a level that not only affects their products but our ecosystem as well. By creating a better and healthier product they are also creating a better and healthier environment for all of us, which is their greatest achievement of all. I sampled Dannon Whole Milk Yogurt in Strawberry flavor with my kids – it was absolutely delicious! You could easily taste the natural sugar and the real strawberry flavor. As mentioned, there are no GMO ingredients, only natural ingredients, and the yogurt is made of whole milk, which is associated with certain health benefits, according to several studies. There’s also the benefit of bacteria cultures that help with digestion and the immune system.

Dannon yogurt is available in 11 flavors: Vanilla, Strawberry, Key Lime, Orange Cream, Strawberry Banana and Peach. Not pictured: Blueberry, Mixed Berry, Cherry, Raspberry and Strawberry Kiwi.
