Last weekend we were just treated to a preview of the Angry Birds Movie and the live show Birds of Flight at the Bronx Zoo by Kidzvuz. I dont want to spoil the movie, but I recommend seeing it! It came as no surprise that the kids loved the movie. They were completely amped up the whole morning. After all, these were characters they grew up and battled endless boards of pigs.
What made it great for me was the number of jokes aimed at adults that flew right over their heads. Going in, I knew the cast was ridiculously stacked. You have Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage headlining. Sean Penn even played a giant bird that mostly grunted and there was a seemingly endless list of big named actors playing the smaller roles. That gave me a good feeling going in but since big ensembles don’t always work . It was nice surprise to see a good story and really funny moments. They threw out every possible bird and pig pun in increasingly impressive ways. I would definitely enjoy seeing it again and I am sure that I would see some things that I missed the first time.
After the screening, we headed up the to Bronx Zoo. The Birds of Flight show was absolutely amazing. I have to admit it was the first time I had a macau fly over and brush up against me. There were giant vultures and hawks and vibrant parakeets. However, the macaus were just spellbinding. I was blown away. The pictures do it better justice.
Huge thank you to KidzVuz and Sony for inviting my family for the day of fun, at the movie screening and the Bronx Zoo. A travel stipend was included. As always, all opinions are our own.
