This summer, head over to the west village to score free (yep, FREE!) tickets to see Pete the Cat – a fun musical based on the best-selling series by James and Kimberly Dean. Presented by Theatreworks USA, a nonprofit professional theater for your audiences, Pete the Cat brings to life the beloved character so many kids love! Freebie Alert! See Pete the Cat for Free at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in NYC
In the show, Pete the Cat wants to play music with his band but gets caught by a cat-catcher and is sent to live with a family and be a house cat. He and the family have to learn to live with one another and Pete has to figure out if he wants to remain a house cat or jam with his friends.
I recently saw the show with my kids and all four of us thought it was hilarious! So did the rest of the audience. The original score by Sarah Hammond and Will Aronson was fun with catchy tunes. Kyle Sherman, in the role of Pete, was hysterical and very cat-like in his body language. The character was very similar to the one in the books (my kids own several of them and know them well). If your kids aren’t familiar with Pete the Cat I recommend grabbing a book from the library before the show.
The show is 50 minutes long with no intermission. It’s recommended for kids ages 5-9.
