Did you know that Barbie (yes, that Barbie) was thinking about moving recently (see our video recap of her NYC event here), but after all her travels, Barbie realized that Malibu is where her heart is and has decided to stay there in a newly renovated Dreamhouse! While I would have loved to see her move to NYC, we get it. Wondering what the new Dreamhouse looks like? We were recently sent one to check out for ourselves.
My little girl was so thrilled when we showed her the box! She quickly gathered up her Barbies and ran back to pose!
We spent a good chunk of the rest of the night putting it together. I’m not going to sugarcoat that — it wasn’t so fun. There are a lot of parts and the directions could have been a little clearer (but since there is a YouTube instruction video (that was just released) I suggest you watch it as you put the Dreamhouse together).
My daughter was so excited the next morning. My almost 8 year old son, Ben, was impressed too. He and my daughter have been playing with it non-stop since. We even put it in a special area of our playroom (it’s bigger than my daughter).
My daughter loved all the fashion and food accessories and had fun “making dinners” for her barbies.. Ben insisted that robots be allowed to come to dinner too. Since he was playing nicely with her (a rarity), we let them play “Barbies and Robots”.
My favorite feature was the tiny details. They really thought of everything! For example, they include a little dog for Barbie. They included items for the dog (like a dog bed and a food dish, etc).. There was a soap dispenser for the bathroom sink.. they included hangars for the closet.
I was a huge Barbie fan growing up (but I never had the Dreamhouse), so I was really happy that we were able to give this to my daughter.
The newly renovated Dreamhouse is three-stories, has 6 rooms, two elevators, and unmatched “ocean views” of the Malibu coastline. And of course her new Barbie’s Dreamhouse features a few luxe details – like pink stainless steel kitchen appliances and a walk-in closet with its own elevator – a first for the fashion icon.
Barbie’s brand new 2013 Dreamhouse is now available at retailers nationwide for every girl who has always wanted a Dreamhouse of her own.
Find it at Walmart and retail stores nationwide, the suggested retail price is $184.99
