Verizon Wireless’ “Back-to-School” Blogger event at Citi Field

Who doesn’t love checking out the latest tech? I was given the chance to check out the hottest new back to school tech products from Verizon Wireless last week at their Back-To-School Blogger Event at Citi Field. We were treated to the Mets Vs. Marlins game (the Mets won). My late grandfather had been a fan of the Mets, and I hadn’t been to Citi Field yet, so I was excited to go. I’m a longtime Verizon Wireless Customer, so I was excited to check out Verizon Wireless’s Back to School products.  I am shopping around for a tablet for my family, so I really enjoyed checking out the  Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, and the iPad. (Read More after the jump).

I spoke to Barbara Thompson, from VZW’s marketing team and an expert on Mobile Safety. My almost 7 year old son loves to play my iPod Touch, so I asked her how to make it more kid-friendly (and how to keep my own apps safe from his “curiosity”). She recommended making him his own page, with everything he likes in one area. She also recommended putting a kid-safe browsing mode, like Zoodles’ Kid Mode. It locks the home button while letting kids play educational kids games and watch videos. It’s free and available on Amazon.com for Android and in iTunes for Apple Devices. I always turn off the Wifi when I give it to him (love Airplane mode for that), but giving him his own page was a terrific idea.

Download: Kid Mode: Kids Games + Child Lock (Android)
iTunes Version: Kid Mode.

Just turned 2 and already knows how to use an iPhone.

Thank you to Verizon Wireless for providing tickets to the game and lunch. I received a gift bag.
